This Christmas season has been an interesting time for me. I wouldn't say bad but I wouldn't say joyous either. I've really had trouble getting into the "Christmas spirit". I tried to listen to the radio station that is playing all Christmas music all the time. That helped some but "It" just wasn't there. I then started listening to the station that is playing both Praise and Christmas songs and that helped a little more. Then I returned to work after being sick for two days only to find that a co-worker had been shot and killed the night before. That was a real downner. All that plus having a new puppy to take care of and get used too. Don't get me wrong Sadie has been the one really bright spot this year. Her getting into things and her nonstop going and going. She is just a brown flash.
Last night though I think I found out how to get the joy back. I had a dream just before waking this morning that I think will help.
I was in a bible study and we got to talking about the difference of Daddy and Father in relationship to God. I explained to the group that the difference is that Daddy is someone that I spend time with and interact with on a superficial way. "how are you doing" "want to go get something to eat" "Nice weather were having" "how's your day going" ect. These are things that I might share with my dad or someone else. Kind of superficial, no meat, no struggle, what a child might say to his Daddy. This is what God is to me when I'm driving and we talk. There just isn't time to sit and have a long conversation because of the demands of the job.
Father is when I am hurting and need that someone who knows me and wants to sit and talk about the hard things, like why do I feel this way, why can't I get into the spirit of Christmas, and why do bad things happen at this time of year when we all want to be so joyous. These are the things that my Father wants to spend time with me and talk them through. This is when God is my Father. This when I truly know that he is really interested in what makes me me. He can tell when I'm hurting and he wants to make it better and that may take time spent with him. Not just fleeting moments here and there.
So to sum this all up I would say Enjoy the fleeting moments where you talk to God about the little things, the things that you don't need to spend much time on.
Treasure however the times that you spend with your Father hashing out the tough things in life. Wading through the muck and mier to get to the dry land on the other side next to his throne. Then being able to go back to the relationship of daddy next to his throne. Please try to find the right time to spend time with your Father and you will find yourself growing in places that you would never expect.
Merry Christmas everyone
from me and Sadie.

Who won?
I've been thinking a lot about the midterm elections as of late. I know that some people were not happy with the results and some were OK with them. I personally had mixed feelings and started listening to others about what they thought. As I did, I came across someone who said something very profound a while back. For the life of me I can't remember who said it, but here it is.
"Isn't interesting that in the days of Jesus the people were looking for a political leader to save them and God sent them Jesus."
Jesus was no political leader, he was a spiritual leader, the best leader the people could get. He led them into a new reality that transcends all things political. He knew that unless they took care of their life with God, and got closer to him, the next political leader would never satisfy them either.
God knows that political leaders can only accomplish political things which will always be controversial. No matter what he or she decides, someone will be unhappy. That is why not everyone is happy with the decisions that are being made, they are political.
I personally was convicted by the above statement and knew that I had to start looking for the reality that only God can give. My focus had to be on what was God order and not man's. As long as the decisions of the political leader does not conflict with the laws of God then I must be submissive to them and have respect for the leader, whoever that might be. In fact God calls us to honor those in authority because all authority is given by God alone.
My goal in the future, starting now, is to respect the decisions of the people over me and to look to God for my ultimate answer to happiness, because in the end only he has all the correct answers that will satisfy all.
How about you? Do you want the answer to the midterms? Then look to Jesus for the answer, for he alone can satisfy.

Tides of Truth series
Well here is my first Book Review. I hope to get people to go on an adventure, read a book. There are many good ones out there and now so many ways now to read a book. I hope that these book reviews will be helpful in helping you to decide what to read.
The Tides of Truth Series is written by Robert Whitlow and is for those who like John Grisiom and legal thrillers. There are three books in the series, Deeper Water, Higher Hope, and Greater Love. All three are part of the package but each can to some extent stand alone.
Tami the main character of all three book grew up in rural Georgia and has strong religious values that she takes with her to the big city of Savannah. The story takes us through Tami's start as a young law clerk in a high powered law firm to her being a member of a small firm in Savannah. There is plenty of suspense in the cases she must handle and the romance that pursues her.
I personally was captured by the faith that Tami maintained and still lived in the world and was a very big contrubuting part of it. Her faith is what carried her through the good and the hard time and her reliance on God and her family for the answers to life tough questions.
I'll let you read the series and find out what happens to Tami and her life in the big city. The Tides of Truth by Robert Whitlow

Hello everyone.
Welcome all to my new blog. As you can see from the name, this blog is about book reviews and any other thoughts that I may have at the time. Mostly there will book reviews of books that I have just read but if something catches my attention and I feel the need to express, then that will appear also. I will try to update about once a month or more as time and topics permit. The goal is at least once a month. Once again thanks for coming and may God bless each one of you.
